In this post, I’ll focus on tactical suggestions for how to achieve Extreme Clarity in presentations and meetings. This is what I’ve found works well over time and from personal experience. So, you might be asking: what is Extreme Clarity? Extreme Clarity is when everyone is on the same page. It does not mean that everyone agrees about what to do — it means that everyone shares the same understanding of the facts. Everyone knows, “Our goal is X, our options are 1, 2, 3, and our next steps are A, B, C.” Extreme Clarity means eliminating that inevitable, “Oh, I thought you meant …” As PMs, we need Extreme Clarity so we can focus all our energy on solving the actual problem, which is hard enough on its own. Without Extreme Clarity, we would waste time talking past each other, disagreeing about things we actually agree on, and making decisions in the absence of full understanding.
