That's actually a really great point to highlight - I think a lot of accessible services that need maintenance end up getting sidelined because they're not used by the majority of people. If a staircase was completely unusable at a station, a lot of passengers would be extremely upset that they had to reroute and potentially miss important transfers or meetings. And it's amazing how long these elevators can be down for! Last winter the elevator to enter Kipling station was out of commission for months, and it took them at least a month to even update their website to reflect the closure.
