Let’s start with the birds. 🐦 Whether you call it a ‘club’ or a ‘cult,’ Michael Lombardo’s weekly birdwatching program (@mcgolrickbirdclub ) has become a must-attend gathering. This rapidly growing community of bird enthusiasts enjoys educational experiences that feel more like a public movement than just a hobby. The Friends of McGolrick, (@mcgolrickpark ) known for their epic annual Halloween Festival, have also established a Bird Garden that complements the Bird Club. With carefully selected native plants (huge thanks to NBK Parks gardener Lauren!), this space nourishes the very birds we love to watch. But McGolrick’s wildlife love doesn’t stop with birds. The McGolrick Dog Run (@mcgolrickdogs) community recently raised funds to lay down 25 TONS of new pea gravel, ensuring a refreshed space for pups to play all winter long. 🐾 Every September, we partner with Films on the Green (@filmsonthegreen) to screen a kid-friendly French film to wrap up their summer of French cinema. This tradition is made even more special with the involvement of PS110, (@ps110pta ) a dual-language French school right on the park’s border, who have made the park a daily extension of their learning space. And Sundays? They belong to Down to Earth Farmers Market (@mcgolrickparkfarmersmarket )! From fresh produce and coffee to popsicles and empanadas, it’s a hub of local farming goodness. Plus, NBK Compost (@nbkcompost) is back, helping us all reduce waste with their food scrap drop-off program, while North Brooklyn Neighbors (@northbrooklynneighbors) creates awareness of our local soil and air quality. 🥕♻️ Get involved, give back, and be a part of the vibrant McGolrick Park community. There’s something for everyone! 💚💚💚".
