i used to be the kind of kid who built things not because anyone asked, but because the world felt designed for builders & i had duct tape & time. that led to me making a ton of money on the internet before even starting college. then, i got really good at computers. & like many who get good at computers, eventually i ended up in big tech you know how that story goes. a padded seat at a trillion dollar company. a salary that numbs you. smart coworkers, soft expectations, & everything designed to keep you just satisfied enough not to leave. they don’t trap you with chains. they wrap you in memory foam. & so the wildness fades. not all at once. just a little every cycle. until one day you realize… you haven’t built anything in years that scared you. you haven’t needed to. comfort is a parasite with perfect manners. it doesn’t shout. it whispers, “why risk it?” and you listen. because now you have things to lose. status. equity. your calendar’s full of things that look like progress. but
