I live in a 3BD2B with my two roommates in a small building (3 units). No washing machine or dishwasher, and we all work outside of the home. Our lease stipulates that we pay all utilities, including water and heat. I pay our other utilities directly but our landlord asks that we send him $100 every month with rent for water. He doesn't send me a bill or statement from the water company. I've never paid for water in NYC so I don't know if this is a reasonable cost or not. Our landlord has been a little shady before (tried to charge an illegally high application fee, often unresponsive when we have problems) so I wanted to ask if everything sounds legal and get an idea of what other people pay for water.
