I am in Flagstaff, Arizona, sheltering in place with my family in during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are far enough into the crisis that the Arizona governor, one of a few political hold-outs, has issued a stay-at-home order; but it is also early enough that it is clear the worst is yet to come. The “peak” of the epidemic curve. The threat of a second wave. The economic aftershocks. I have two small children, and my academic employment is precarious. My family is far away, my husband’s family is farther. We worry about who would care for our kids were we to get sick.
