The greatest benefit for me was simply being able to be around 45,000 other people who were collectively similar in age, there for similar reasons, and all in one place. It's an incredibly unique period that I don't believe can be replicated elsewhere. Friendships were created with more genuine undertones. Nobody cares about your income. Asks what you do. Wonders whether you can provide "value" or thinks about this stuff in a strategic way. Not to say this can't be the case online, or at a later stage in life, but it was just more natural and effortless.
