A subreddit for fans of ambient music as a genre. Ambient music emphasizes tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure or rhythm. Doesn’t need to be “real” jazz, I just like those kinds of instruments and harmonies. I’ve been loving the Andre 3000 album New Blue Sun and I want to hear more like it, I know it’s more New Age than jazz and there have been other threads about that album but I’m curious if people have recs for what I’m looking for. Thanks ya’ll These are far and away my favorite two records that overlap jazz with ambient: Floating Points w/ Pharaoh Sanders - "Promises" Nala Sinephro - "Space 1.8" Floating Points w/ Pharaoh is the first thing I thought of - this Space 1.8 album is LUSH The Pavilion of Dreams by Harold Budd Check out Sam Gendel and Sam Wilkes last duo album. Bohren and Der Club of Gore - Piano Nights is a fantastic slow/ ambient/ Jazz record, but much (much) darker than something like Andre’s last record Jon Hassell - Last Night The Moon Came Dropp
