Like any well-adjusted 22-year-old, I start my morning with a healthy scroll through a dating app. My preferred monthly poison of choice: Hinge. After I press on the emblazoned white tile, I first check to see the small notifications in the bottom navigation bar of the app. Two new matches. Cool. I tap to pull up the faces that appear in beveled squares. The first girl is a college sophomore. I swiped on her because I thought she was cute, but I don't think our conversation would line up well given her prompt responses. I close her, and open the next girl — M. She sent Hinge's version of a ‘super like’, boosting her to the top of my queue. Something I had in my profile caught her attention since I rarely receive enthusiastic cues like this.
