This is a compilation of the work I did in the winter of 2024-2025 for the Cosmos Institute as part of their Ventures research program. I’ve been interested in the capabilities of LLMs in poetry. I found a love for poetry in college (though, for reasons I still sympathize with, I never understood it when in high school). One summer I read the entire works of Emily Dickinson, including her letters. In my last semester at Pomona, I took a poetry workshop at CMC taught by the inimitable Henri Cole. And there I found a love for writing poetry, in addition to reading it. Around that time I also started to get interested again in AI. It’s a sort of roundabout story, me and AI. I’d read Bostrom’s Superintelligence right before college, and it was a large part of why I majored in philosophy and computer science.
