Storytelling injects itself into every step of the design process. It acts as a mortar that creates a sturdy connection between each step, effectively using the previous section (such as research) to lead into the following (such as insights). In The Storyteller, one of the reasons Kelley lists why people should tell stories is that good stories help make order out of chaos. Stories help in doing this by highlighting the most relevant details and how they are used to lead to the following actions. In simpler words, they provide a plotline and build a context. In the podcast Conversation on Design: Storytelling with Lee-Sean Huang, Huang speaks about how understanding design is understanding the systems behind it.
