When I look at the eyes in this painting, I feel the pain that is unspoken. It seems like the person’s holding in the emotions while yearning to express it. Those are some of the loosely recorded words from a workshop I attended yesterday. It was about public speaking. Yet, I left home with an astonishment on the power of art hold in bringing us together. To form meaningful connection, it’s vital to be vulnerable. And vulnerability comes when we dig our hands to the mud of shame, guilt, anger, anxiety, and _____ (fill in an uncomfortable feeling), take out an emotion, and show it to others. Yet, it’s no easy task. Actually, it gets easier once we start. But how do we start? *inserting a theme song from any superhero movie* 🦸 Art comes to the rescue!! 🦸 What I realize from the workshop is that we can easily take any form of art as an excuse to express ourselves (aka be vulnerable) and request for deeper sharing in return.
