I have met many engineers whose career progression seemingly stops at “senior engineer”. It happens for many reasons: They found their sweet spot. Many engineers simply don’t want to be promoted. They love the project they are working on and enjoys being the subject matter expert in their domain. All they want is more of the same. There’s no career path after senior engineer.
