So we ENDED last time comparing Attention and Will as two different ways of APPROACHING the task of self transformation. There’s a really common ATTITUDE in the western world that how STRONG of a person you are…just comes down to how much STUFF you can do… that you absolutely hate. How long can you FORCE yourself to DO something to yourself… that, if someone ELSE did the exact same THING to you… we wouldn’t call it self improvement as much as call it, you know a class B felony. Or a violation of the Geneva convention. We see people that can DO this to themselves as STRONG, but is having a strong will in uncomfortable spots REALLY…ALL that we should respect about a person that makes them strong? Or, as Simone Weil is saying, are there OTHER important skills that need to be developed as well…that are just BETTER skills to have all things considered across the multiple situations that life may throw your way.
