Cumbersome: Tips for Rules Writing
Thanks, this was really great to read. Been working on a prototype for several years and been struggling writing the rulebook for it. I've been using "they" all the time... you gave me something interesting to think about! Honestly though, as I've rewritten the rulebook many times, you really do get better with practice. Oh and don't start writing the rulebook before the rules are basically set in stone... Lesson learned the hard way :D I always feel like writing a good rule book is like writing a mathematical proof. The language needs to be clear and concise of course, but the overall experience reminds me of the proofs students in a geometry class would write. Every assertion must be explained and/or backed up with facts. Great article! Post a Comment
